SLP Installations

SonLight Power work teams have installed solar power resources in schools, orphanages, medical clinics and churches. Typically, each work team completes 2–3 installations in several locations within a region per trip. Work teams can range from five to 12 members with one experienced leader. All work team members complete training at our solar training facility at Camp Amakanata in Brookeville, Indiana.

Typical work teams are gone for 5–7 days. The demands of this work are physical and spiritual. Physically, the travel and basic labor of the installation requires team members to be physically fit (able to hike 2+ miles minimum). Beyond the SLP training at Camp Amakanata, no other work experience is required to join a team. Team members must be 18 years of age or older. Younger members (14 years or older) are welcomed to join a team when accompanied by one of their parents.

The spiritual demands of this work range from prayer support before, during and after the installation, to sharing the Good News message of the Gospel of Jesus. Often the recipients of an SLP installation are puzzled why team members are willing to leave their comfortable homes and lives in America and travel to a place so far away to do this work. The simple answer is because of the love of Jesus Christ. That same love is available to you. That is why we consider it a privilege to do this work.
